ILLUSTRATIVE WORKS
Outside of my academic work, I have a deep passion for sketching and pencil work, which has been a creative outlet for me for many years. I’m especially drawn to the simplicity and precision of graphite, and I enjoy exploring detail, shading, and composition through sketching. Occasionally, I experiment with coloured pencils and watercolour to add a softer, more expressive quality to my work. These artistic hobbies not only bring me personal enjoyment but also influence my design approach by helping me stay connected to the tactile, hands-on side of the creative process.

AFTER THE
PAUSE
This pencil drawing of a pear marks my return to sketching after a long break spent focusing on my studies. I chose a pear as the subject for its natural curves and textured surface, offering an opportunity to explore shading and form in a simple, focused way. The process allowed me to reconnect with the tactile rhythm of drawing, observing closely, working slowly, and enjoying the subtle variations of tone. This piece represents not just a study in technique, but also a quiet step back into personal creativity.

HAND
STUDY
This drawing is a focused study of the human hand captured in two distinct positions, exploring the subtle language of gesture and form. Hands are powerful conveyors of emotion and intent, and by examining these different poses, I aimed to capture their unique shapes, lines, and textures. The pencil medium allowed me to emphasize shading and detail, highlighting the tension and softness within the muscles and skin. This piece reflects both technical observation and an appreciation for the hands’ expressive potential.

PEDALS
AND PIECES
This drawing is a detailed study of four distinct parts of a bicycle, capturing the mechanical beauty and functional design of each component. By isolating these elements, I aimed to highlight the intricate shapes, textures, and relationships that come together to create movement and balance. The drawing invites viewers to appreciate the craftsmanship behind everyday objects that often go unnoticed. Through careful observation and shading, I sought to reveal both the aesthetic and engineering qualities.
