HIGHLIGHTS

On this page, I’m showcasing the technical side of my interior design work, highlighting CAD drawings, 3D models, specifications, and material selections. These elements are the backbone of every successful project, translating ideas into practical, buildable solutions. By focusing on precision and detail, each design is carefully considered from materials and finishes to dimensions and functionality, resulting in spaces that are both visually compelling and meticulously executed.

The

BATHROOM

Design

For this project, we were challenged with designing our dream washroom and creating a comprehensive drawing package, including a floor plan, two technical sections, and four elevations. The process required research and a detailed understanding of bathroom-specific elements, including vanity and shower plumbing connections, waterproofing methods, and membrane applications, as well as the structural considerations of walls and floors. Learning how plumbing systems actually work gave us a deeper appreciation for the technical and construction aspects of interior design. All drawings include precise dimensions, lighting locations, and plumbing details to ensure clarity and functionality for construction. This project combined creative vision with technical knowledge, highlighting how careful planning and accurate documentation bring a design concept to life.

The

JOINERY

Models

For my sawhorse construction project, I first designed custom wood joinery inspired by the way a rotary phone sits onto its base, focusing on how the pieces easily fit together yet can be removed with ease. I then created models to test and refine the connections before implementing the joinery into the actual sawhorse. The initial draft was made from chipboard to explore proportions and assembly, while the final model was constructed from foam core. This exercise challenged me to design a fully functioning system that could be disassembled and reassembled, demonstrating both practicality and precision. The project deepened my understanding of structural design, the mechanics of joinery, and the translation of technical drawings into a functional built object.

The

ISOMETRIC

Study

As part of my sawhorse project, I created both isometric and exploded isometric drawings to showcase the custom joinery I had designed. This process taught me how to produce accurate isometric drawings and visually communicate complex construction details in a clear, technical, yet easily understandable way. The exploded isometric, in particular, highlighted how each component fits together and can be disassembled, emphasizing the practical mechanics of the joinery. These drawings were part of a larger technical drawing package produced for the project, which aimed to deepen our understanding of construction, construction materials, and building processes. This stage of the project strengthened my skills in technical drawing, spatial visualization, and the ability to convey design ideas in a format that is both informative and visually engaging.

The

FIRE PLAN

Drawing

As part of my final-year student accommodation project, I created a detailed fire plan to demonstrate safe building practices and code compliance. The process taught me how to identify and document essential fire safety elements, including fire-rated walls, refuge areas, fire escapes, and safe travel distances. Producing this plan helped me understand how careful planning and adherence to regulations ensure occupant safety, while also reinforcing the technical and spatial considerations required in architectural and interior design projects. This exercise strengthened my skills in technical drawing, regulatory compliance, and the ability to communicate safety information clearly and effectively. These drawings are featured in my design report for the project which is provided below.

The

WASHROOM

Plan

As part of the larger renovation of the St. Clair College Library in Windsor, Ontario, a bathroom project was completed with an emphasis on accessibility, functionality, and durability. The work involved researching and referencing applicable building codes and ADA requirements to ensure all dimensions, spacing, and clearances were compliant. Plumbing fixtures, finishes, and accessories were carefully sourced and specified, alongside the selection of durable wall materials and flooring designed to withstand heavy use in a public space. To support accuracy during construction, detailed reference tables were prepared, outlining the codes, standards, and material specifications that guided the design process.

The

CABINET 

Detail

Another project focused on creating a custom storage and pin-up system for the architecture student room at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario. The aim was to design a practical yet unique solution that supported both functionality and aesthetics. Research into materials and hardware played a key role in ensuring durability and usability. To communicate the design, a full set of drawings was produced, including plan, elevation, section, axonometric, exploded axonometric, and detail views. A physical model was also constructed, allowing the design to be explored tangibly and reinforcing the connection between creative ideas and technical execution.
